4A: REFLECTING ON TEACHING

Accuracy - Use in Future Teaching

In determining the best instructional approaches for my students, I often reflect upon my teaching, taking into consideration what went well and what could be approached differently. There is more to education than just meeting a goal or memorizing information; the learning process is significant in that the experience may result in major takeaways that will be continuously applied both in and out of the classroom. I recognize my impact as an educator and honor students' individual learning processes, therefore I work to ensure that I am meetings students' needs. After instruction, I reflect upon my teaching through writing and use that to inform my future instruction so I can offer my students a more beneficial, high- quality learning experience. Attached below is a sample of one of my teaching reflections from my student teaching internship in Fall of 2020.

4B: MAINTAINING ACCURATE RECORDS

Student Completion of Assignments- Student Progress in Learning- Noninstructional Records

Maintaining accurate records is significant in that it assists in assessing students and understanding areas of progression or misconceptions. Within my teaching practice, I am consistent with documenting my students' work and maintaining records of grades to determine effective instructional approaches in the future for each individual students. Attached below are a bar graph and chart I developed consisting of students' rubric grades and overall grades for a unit assessment. After compiling this data, I analyzed each students' performance to determine the best instructional approach for the next lesson.

4D:PARTICIPATING IN THE PROFESSIONAL COMMUNITY

Relationships with Colleagues- Participation in School Projects- Involvement in Culture of Professional Inquiry- Service to School

As a dance educator, I honor the dance community and all that it has to offer. I am always seeking to build connections with others, for I recognize that there is much to be learned within such a large and diverse community. Furthermore, I take pride in contributing to the dance education community through volunteer work, workshops, and more. In 2019, for example, I had the opportunity to visit Beijing, China to participate in "Feeling and Form," Beijing Normal University' International Creative Dance Seminar. In addition, I spent the spring semester of my graduate studies in 2021 developing culturally responsive unit plans consisting of non- Western dance forms with my graduate cohort. In partnership with Dance New Jersey, these unit plans were published online for all dance educators to access. In May of 2021, my cohort and I will be leading a connection call for Dance New Jersey via Zoom to inform educators of our unit plans while providing guidance on how to use them. Currently, I have also been selected to be a member of the 2021 Rutgers CAEP Reaccreditation Team in which I will be participating in a site visit with the CAEP team to discuss my experiences as an EdM student.

4E: GROWING AND DEVELOPING PROFESSIONALLY

Enhancement of Content Knowledge/Pedagogical Skill- Receptivity to Feedback from Colleagues- Service to the Profession

Within my teaching practice, I am always seeking to continuously grow and develop as a dance educator. I acknowledge that I can always look to improve my skillset by engaging in informative events (such as workshops), as well as working towards new certifications. Through this effort, I believe that I will be able to offer my students more content knowledge and new pedagogical approaches that may benefit their growth. Over the years, I have participated in many events led by the 92Y Dance Education Laboratory, Dance New Jersey, and the National Dance Education Association. In 2018, received my 200- hour RYT vinyasa yoga certification to learn about and explore other forms of somatic practice, as well as my ConcussionWise yearly training certification to stay informed on medical emergency protocol. Pictured below are three of my certifications.
